Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Harris was taken into custody earlier this month after the deadly encounter at a QuikTrip convenience store in Phoenix involving his year-old daughter. The year-old was waiting in the parking lot to pick up his daughter and two friends when Armstrong approached him asking for money. Harris gave him some change and Armstrong went into the store.
She said she told the employees who alerted the security guard. She then identified Armstrong as the alleged harasser when she spotted him walking out of the store. The protective father, however, confronted Armstrong about the incident and then attacked him, authorities said.
Witnesses told police Harris repeatedly stomped, punched and kicked the man. Harris fled the scene. Armstrong was taken to the hospital where he later died. He suffered brain swelling, a nasal fracture and loss of oxygen. Harris was arrested at his home. He also denied hitting Armstrong when he was on the ground.

ABC News Live.Q: I've heard and seen on TV about families where there is violence that gets worse and worse, sometimes ending in someone's death. For years, my dad has been hitting my mom. I'm 15, what can I do?
A: The family project panel members can't stress this enough: You cannot fix this, please don't try to take this on by yourself. Your safety comes first.
When violent episodes occur, as they have recently in the local news, Russell says, you must have a plan. Hide at a neighbor's house or with a relative or even find a safe place in your own house. Or call Putting yourself between your parents in an effort to help your mother could flip the violence onto you, says panel member Roberta Zelleke. Talk to your teachers, a counselor, friends or possibly a relative about what's going on at home, all agree.
Watching or overhearing violence between your parents can affect you profoundly, even if you're not involved, even if you can't see it and sometimes if you can't even hear it, but know it's going on. Such hyper-awareness, imagining that anything can happen in your home at any time, could take an emotional toll in the form of depression and drug and alcohol abuse to dull the pain, Zelleke says.
It would also be unhealthy and unwise for you to keep the problem to yourself, even if one of your parents tells you not to spread the information outside the family. At 15, you're beginning to form relationships, says Russell, and trying to shut yourself off from others can be dangerous. It keeps you from getting the help you desperately need right now. And though it might be tempting to include your mother in a safety plan, don't.
Do this for yourself, says panelist Bill Vogler. Though you undoubtedly love your mother and want her to be happy and safe, you must also keep from becoming her confidant. Telling you the psychological ins and outs of her relationship with your father is unhealthy, says Russell. Rather, formulate a safety plan for yourself that focuses on your physical health and emotional well-being, they say. Enlist the help of a trusted adult in hiding a few necessities, such as a cell phone.

School officials lifted the bandage and saw that the child's left eye was swollen completely shut. School officials spoke to the child, who told said the injuries were from being beaten with a belt. The child initially blamed the injuries on falling out of bed. Lee told police that the child wet the bed in the middle of the night on Oct.
He said he got the child out of bed and told the child to take a bath. He said he heard the child splashing around in the bathtub, so he went in, grabbed the child by the arm and told the child to stop, according to the arrest affidavit. Lee then left the bathroom but returned with a belt in hand when he heard the child splashing once again, according to the affidavit. The child, still wet from the bath, screamed hysterically before and during the beating, police said. Lee said he stopped the beating when the child stopped screaming then sent the child back to bed on a plastic-lined mattress without any linens.
Lee said he beat the child on the buttocks and on the calf but denied hitting the child near the eyes. He blamed those injuries on the child rubbing his or her eyes too much, but deputies said the injuries were consistent with being hit with a belt. Lee has been arrested numerous times in Volusia County, jail records show.
His previous charges include domestic battery, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, grand theft and possession of heroin.

It was disturbing and disappointing. Disturbing because Tua's mother seemed to think it was perfectly rational to say that the two staples in the Tagovailoa household were "the Bible and the belt. I already know all the responses I'm going to get to this column: Who are you to judge?
Who are you to tell someone how to raise a child? There's nothing wrong with hitting a kid. It's a cultural thing. You're a liberal snowflake. It worked. Tua turned out just fine. Well, sorry, I'm judging, and all those responses are bulls This is not spanking a young child because they bit a classmate or talked back to a parent.
This was a teenager being whipped with a belt. You don't hit a kid with a belt and inflect mental abuse on him because he threw an interception. It's insane behavior that should not be accepted or normalized.
It's physical and mental abuse, plain and simple. Tua's dad has a blast confirming the awful behavior, saying, "I was tough. He can go for with four touchdowns, but when he throws a pick, it's the worst game. It's the worst game. Not only did Rinaldi completely whiff at questioning Tua's parents about their method of absuse, Desmond Howard thought the belt story was hilarious and referred to Tua's dad as "the Hawaiian Joe Jackson"—a reference to Michael Jackson's abusive father.
